We are back with more short movie reviews of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan & Baadshaho
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan Review
When you want to get it on, and you can’t get it up, what do you do? Shubh Mangal Saavdhan does more for sex, both noun and verb than any Hindi film can claim to in a long, long time. The movie stands still on 4 pillars – the concept, the performances, the writing and R S Prasanna. Turns out that it is, and quite a funny one and a family entertainer.
Go and see how Bollywood is progressing, go and watch how this is 2017 and we’re ready to watch anything we want.
We give Shubh Mangal Savdhaan 3.5 Stars.
On paper, Baadshaho may have had the merit of a Hollywood heist thriller like Ocean’s Eleven. This would seem like why Ajay Devgn agreed to be a part of this multi-starrer- that attempts to make outlaws look like Robin Hood. However the good intention is defeated, when the execution offers zero novelty. The weakest part in this so-called heist film is the heist itself. In fact, it’s one of the easiest heists in cinematic history where the people in charge of protecting the gold truck are the most clueless. The authorities get hold of everyone except the most obvious suspect.
Ajay burns the screen with his searing intensity; Ileana passes muster as the Maharani with hidden facets; Emraan’s takeaway is that he gets to shimmy with Sunny Leone and Vidyut gets an `interesting’ introduction. Baadshaho has too many ordinarily written characters jostling for whistle-worthy one-liners for 136-minutes. Eventually, they run short of the steam and Baadshaho becomes a rehashed ‘90s story with some gloss and a lot of disappointment.
We give Baadshaho 2.5 stars
